In 2022, popular scooter manufacturer Invacare effectively stopped the production of their mobility scooters. This included their most popular models, the Colibri, Leo, Comet, and of course, the Pegasus Pro. This came as a shock for most companies and consumers that enjoyed their mobility scooters throughout the year. This is exactly why we wanted to create a list of the 5 best alternatives to the Invacare Pegasus Scooter. Before we dive right into the alternatives, let’s go over why the Pegasus was so loved by our clients across Canada.
Pegasus Pro Overview
The Pegasus Pro mobility scooter is a large, full-sized scooter equipt with many luxury features. The large captain’s seat, advanced suspension, ergonomic steering, and large pneumatic tires all made this scooter comfortable to drive. Equipt with a top speed of 15km/h, a 55km driving range, and a 350-pound weight capacity made this scooter a top pick for many. Keeping these features and stats in mind, we have chosen 5 mobility scooters that are similar or better in performance. And, they are all within a similar price range.
1. Fortress S700
The first, and arguably most comparable scooter, is the Fortress S700. This is one of our favourite scooters here at Scooter Country. And, it has many of the same specs as the Pegasus scooter. It has a 15km/h top speed, a driving range of 55km, and a weight capacity of 350 pounds, so all of these key stats are the same as the Pegasus. It also comes standard with an extra large front basket, two carbon effect mirrors, and LED lighting. In addition, the S700 provides luxury seating, full suspension, and 13” pneumatic tires with a stylish exterior. The S700 has extremely comparable specs and size, but at a more affordable cost than the Pegasus, about $500 cheaper! The S700 is the best alternative to the Invacare Pegasus scooter.
2. Shoprider LandCruiser
If you are looking for a mobility scooter with a higher weight capacity, then this may be the best alternative for you. The Shoprider LandCruiser features a 500-pound weight capacity, one of the highest that we offer. It has slightly lower stats due to the unit’s heavier weight, at 309 pounds. Its top speed is 13.5km/h and has a driving range of 48k. The LandCruiser has all of the comfort features that you know and love from a full-sized scooter, including comfortable seating, an ergonomic tiller, and a swivel seat. Because this scooter has a reinforced suspension to carry 500 pounds, it does cost a few hundred dollars more than the Pegasus scooter did.
3. Pride Pursuit ES
Next up on our list is the Pride Pursuit ES. This scooter offers top-performance ride quality with front and rear suspension, 13” pneumatic tires, and a powerful drivetrain. Its top speed is slightly higher, going up to 15.2km/h. The Pursuit ES also has a driving range of 35.2km and a 350-pound weight capacity. If you are looking to go further, its batteries can be upgraded to 75Ah, which will make it much more comparable to the Invacare Pegasus. In addition, it comes standard with an extra large front basket, I mean look at it!
4. Shoprider TrailBlazer
If you are looking for a luxury experience, look no further than the Shoprider TrailBlazer. This scooter is one of the best on this list in terms of outdoor experience, due to its high ground clearance, full suspension, and 12.5” pneumatic tires. It offers a 12km/h top speed, a 40km driving range, and a 350-pound weight capacity. Unfortunately, there are no battery upgrade options for this particular scooter. This scooter is a little cheaper than the Invacare Pegasus, but very similar.
5. Fortress S425
If you are looking for something slightly smaller and more affordable, the Fortress S425 is a great alternative to the Invacare Pegasus Pro scooter. This scooter offers a 12km/h top speed, a 38km driving range, and a 330-pound weight capacity. Its adjustable and ergonomic tiller paired with a large captain’s seat makes travelling comfortable. Not to mention its LED lighting, water-resistant controls, and sleek design. While this scooter may be smaller than the Pegasus, it still may be a great option if you are in the market for something slightly smaller, but can still handle outdoor terrains.
Conclusion
This concludes our list of the top 5 alternatives to the Invacare Pegasus Pro scooter. While it is unfortunate that this scooter was discontinued, there are a number of fantastic alternatives that will satisfy your feature wishlist.
